Radar - Finding Risks Early
Radar has won two Deloitte Financial Services Innovation awards, read more about it here!
Aylien – Radar Platform Design
Radar was Aylien’s flagship AI-powered platform for real-time financial event monitoring, used by global banks, asset managers, and risk teams to track and act on market-moving news. I led the end-to-end design of the platform from early concept and prototyping through to enterprise adoption, focusing on clarity, trust in AI-generated insights, and usability in high-pressure decision environments.
The Strategic Challenge
Radar needed to surface high-signal events from vast, fast-moving data streams and make them actionable for different user roles, from risk analysts to executive stakeholders. The core challenge was not visual polish, but building confidence in AI-driven insights, supporting rapid decision-making, and scaling the experience across complex enterprise contexts.
My Role
As Product Design Lead, I owned the product experience and design direction for Radar, working closely with engineering, data science, and commercial teams.
Designed core workflows and interaction patterns that translated complex AI outputs into clear, defensible decisions
Shaped information architecture and role-based experiences for analysts, compliance teams, and executives
Partnered with leadership to align product direction with enterprise risk and compliance needs
Led hands-on design while establishing lightweight design practices to support scale and consistency
Outcomes
Adopted by 30+ banks and financial organisations during alpha and beta phases
Directly supported enterprise sales, including Tier 1 banking clients
Awarded Most Disruptive Fintech at the Deloitte Financial Services Innovation Awards (2021)
Why It Matters
Radar was a trust-critical system. Its success depended on users believing, understanding, and acting on AI-generated signals in time-sensitive, high-stakes contexts. This work required balancing hands-on design with careful judgment around transparency, cognitive load, and risk.
This case reflects how I approach complex AI systems: designing for clarity under pressure, enabling confident decision-making, and ensuring that advanced technology earns user trust.
